📢 We are proud to announce that Monaco officially joined the Space for Climate Observatory (SCO) on Thursday, March 20, 2025.
🖊️The Charter was signed by H.E. Ms. Valérie Bruell-Melchior, Ambassador of Monaco to France, during the 3rd SCO Congress at the Ministerial Conference Center in Paris, in the presence of members of the Department of External Relations and Cooperation and the Monaco Office of Space Affairs.
🔭 The SCO is an international initiative that harnesses space technologies to monitor, mitigate, and adapt to the effects of climate change. By bringing together over 50 public and private organizations specialized in space, SCO combines satellite data with in situ observations and digital models to provide tools and insights for decision-makers.
🌏 This membership strengthens Monaco’s commitment to climate action, allowing the Principality to collaborate with an international network of partners and leverage space technology expertise to better understand and anticipate climate developments. This collaboration is especially valuable as part of Monaco’s actions to support developing countries in their fight against climate change, in line with its international commitments.
🤝 Furthermore, this signature highlights the strong ties between the Prince’s Government and the French National Centre for Space Studies (CNES), the founding body of the SCO, reinforcing an essential scientific and institutional cooperation in the face of the climate challenge.
