Maria Betti and Françoise Bardon win the 2012 Monte-Carlo Woman of the Year Prize

The French Francoise Bardon Uribe and the Italian Maria Betti are the winners of the first edition of the Monte-Carlo Woman of the Year Award, Sponsored by Alliance Boots, which took place at the Sporting d'Hiver. An original evening, in a magnificent setting, surrounded by the precious works of art of the exhibition Point Art Monaco (dining next to a Parmigianino or a Tiepolo is not really usual!).
The winners are respectively engaged in the humanitarian and in the scientific fields. Françoise Bardon Uribe (left) has created five toy libraries in Colombia since 1996, with the help of the Monegasque Association Mission Enfance, all in areas where children are mistreated, abandoned to themselves, reduced to slavery or at the mercy of the drug cartel. Professor Maria Betti (right), received the award for having developed the laboratories of the IAEA (the International Atomic Energy Agency), which she has directed for 4 years, and for having created the International Center for the Collection of Studies on Ocean Acidification within the laboratories.
To select the two winners, the Commission was composed of: Stéphane Valeri, Minister of Health and Social Affairs of Monaco; Cinzia Sgambati-Colman (President of the Commission, creator of the Award); Marietta Vinci Corsini, antique dealer and sole administrator GIE - Point Art Monaco; Smadar Eisenberg, President AOPMC (Friends of the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra); Simone Pastor, patron of the arts; Marzia Lefebvre, contractor; José Giannotti, general agent of Assurance Generali. It was the Uruguayan sculptor Pablo Atchugarry who created the very pretty statues representing the ideal woman, in patinated bronze. Pablo Atchugarry has lived for years on the shores of Lake Garda and works with the marble quarries of the Apuan Alps, where he selects the blocks from which his marvelous monumental works come.

The evening was animated by a small concert by the maestro Maurizio Mastrini (photo), an extraordinary musician. Maurizio Mastrini, from Perugia, woke up one day remembering the dream he had had during the night: Bach told him to play his music starting from the end. And so it has been for some years; He shares with the world the discovery of new harmonies written for centuries, but never before heard, by Bach and other extraordinary composers.
